L-Carnitine is extremely hygroscopic, so avoiding powder applications is advised. In powder applications, Carnitine Tartrate is most often used. L-Carnitine is highly soluble in water and has a fishy smell that disappears once in water.

It is most often seen in non-USA markets in weight management RTDs either alone, or in combination with chromium. It is sometimes seen in softgel applications in combination with CoQ10.
